THE OBSTETRIC & GYNAECOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF SOUTHERN INDIA
Endowed in 2020 by Dr A Jaishree Gajaraj, this oration lets one young member each year showcase their clinical insight, research and presentation skills at the Thalir-Yuva OGSSI Conference in December.

Dr. A Jaishree Gajaraj is a Senior Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Chennai, practising with MANGAI Women’s Health Exclusive and MGM Healthcare. She won the Gold Medal in Clinical Medicine at MBBS and has since held many leadership roles. She was President of OGSSI in 2008 and Chairperson of AICC RCOG SZ from 2008 to 2014. She is the Founder Secretary and President of the Chennai Menopause Society, Immediate Past President of ATNRCOG, and was President of the SOVSI Tamil Nadu Chapter from 2022 to 2024.

She is an examiner for MRCOG (UK) and faculty at the MRCOG Revision Course. She has contributed publications and textbook chapters, and received the Best Doctor Award from the Dr. M.G.R. Medical University.

Rules of Applying

  • Age: Should not have completed 40 years of age as on 1st October of that year

  • Should be a Life member of OGSSI

  • Should hold MS/MD/DNB (ObGyn), eligible for registration by the National Medical Council, or MRCOG, or American Board Certification in ObGyn

  • Can be a private practitioner or working in a teaching institution/Deemed University

  • Topic can be original research work, analysis of data, or the candidate's own perceptions/recommendations that may impact management in ObGyn practice

Candidates must submit

  • A Justification for submission (not more than 150 words)

  • An Abstract of the proposed Oration (not more than 350 words)

Assessment Criteria

  • Topic chosen — relevance to the prevailing ObGyn practice at that time

  • Original research work carried out within 5 years of the date of application

  • Bio data

  • Free papers/Posters presented at State or National level Conferences

  • Awards and Prizes won
